IPL Hair Removal

How does IPL hair removal work?
The Intense Pulsed Light hair removal system
targets the hair follicle without disrupting the sink’s
surface to remove hair on any part of the body for smooth
softer looking skin. The energy directed from the IPL
handpiece is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in the hair
follicle that is then converted to heat. The hat works to
disable the hair follicle cells that are responsible for the
growth of new hair resulting in permanent hair removal.

Is IPL hair removal permanent?
Yes, hair follicles that have absorbed the energy of the
light and have been destroyed (usually 80%) will never grow
hair again. Some hair growth may appear after 5-7 treatments
but will be thinner, lighter in color and grow at a much
slower rate than before. (we guarantee our results) (see
guarantee)

Is there a guarantee that the removal is permanent?
AccuVision & Aesthetics guarantees that if, within one year
of your last treatment, you experience re-growth of hair in
the treated area, you may make an appointment to receive
additional IPL treatments to the treated area, free of
charge. This guarantee is available to all patients who have
completed and have paid for the full course of six IPL
removal treatments, and who have followed the recommended
time interval between treatments

-
Is IPL hair removal safe?
IPL works several times faster than other light-based hair
removal systems. It is equipped with a cooling system to
avoid any skin damage. IPL light is distributed through a
scanner equipped with a cooling plate. The cooling plate
will cool the superficial skin layers and protect the skin
to reduce the stinging sensation during treatment.

-
Does IPL hair removal hurt?
You may experience slight discomfort and feel a heat or
stinging sensation. Some parts of the body tend to be more
sensitive than others. A slight redness of the skin may
occur for a few hours. You can return to your regular
activities immediately after treatment. Some patients opt to
take ibuprofen prior to treatment.

-
How often do I come in for treatment?
Our goal is to target hair growth in the Anagen phase where
hair growth is active and contains the most melanin.
Multiple sessions are required, 6-8 are usually necessary.
Why? At any given time, only about one third of the hair
follicles are in the growth stage that responds well to the
IPL. The success of treatments is individualized, depending
on hair and skin type. A free consultation is conducted
prior to treatment to assess your individual needs. You must
stay on your treatment schedule to achieve the best results.

What can I expect after an IPL treatment?
Most clients can resume normal activities immediately. The
skin may appear red and warm for a short amount of time
following the treatment. Ice may be applied to the treated
area. It is recommended that you avoid direct sun exposure
and sun tanning booths for 14 days following an IPL
treatment. An SPF of 30 or higher should be worn over the
treated area.

Can
anyone have IPL treatments?
Light-based therapies such as IPL are attracted to
color. The risk of irregular skin color changes
following IPL treatment increases with tan or dark skin.
Avoid direct sun exposure or sun tanning booths before
and after IPL treatments..
If you have a history of oral herpes, prophylactic
antiviral therapy may be necessary.
IPL treatments will NOT be performed on pregnant or
breast feeding mothers.
Inform us if you are using (or have used) acne
medications or creams such as accutane , retinol, retin-A
or similar. Use of these medications can negatively
affect your skin’s reaction to laser treatments.
People with a history of epilepsy and / or seizures must
notify the IPL practitioner before treatment begins
